The Engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton - Oldmaison
On Friday 29th April 2011 at 11:00am Prince William will marry Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William and Kate Middleton became engaged while in Kenya in October 2010, but it only became official when Clarence House announced the engagement on November 16th 2010.

Groom

Prince William was born on 21st June 1982 and is the eldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, he is second in line to the throne behind his father. He was educated at, among other schools, Eton and the University of St Andrews. It was at this University where he met Kate Middleton. Among the Military Ranks he has achieved are Flight Lieutenant of the Royal Air Force, Captain in the Blues and Royals and Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.

Bride

Catherine Middleton was born on 9th January 1982 in Reading, Berkshire and is the eldest of three children to Carole and Michael Middleton. She graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a 2:1 (Honours) in the History of Art. Since she has met Prince William she has come into the public eye and is seen to be a fashion icon. In 2007 and 2010, she featured in People’s best dressed list, and in 2008 featured in Vanity Fair’s best dressed list.

Music for the Service

At the Service there will be two fanfare bands, two choirs and one orchestra performing the music.

The two Fanfare bands consist of seven members of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force and eight State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry.

The two choirs are The Chapel Royal Choir and the Choir of Westminster Abbey. The Westminster Abbey choir consists of 12 professional adult singers and 20 boys all who attend the Abbey’s residential choir School.

The Orchestra is the London Chamber orchestra comprising of 39 musicians and will play in the organ loft of Westminster Abbey.

The Royal Wedding Procession

The procession form Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey will pass several famous London landmarks including, The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Downing Street, Whitehall, The Cenotaph, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

At the end of the wedding service, it is planned that Prince William and Kate Middleton will travel along the procession route in an open 1902 State Landau coach. If there is inclement weather on the day, they will ride in The Glass Coach. There will be five carriages in the procession, in the first will be the Bride and Groom, the second and third carriages will hold the Best Man, Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be in the fourth carriage and in the final carriage will be the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Mr and Mrs Middleton.
